The TECH Team offices recently reopened after having been closed since the middle of March due to Covid-19 restrictions in Texas. Similar to many around the world, during that time I worked from home.
I have never aspired to work from home; there are too many things to distract me there. Those several weeks spent at home were an experiment. While I greatly enjoyed the commute, time with the kids, having lunch with Katie everyday, and the overall flexibility of the schedule, productivity was spotty. Some days I would get a lot done; others not so much. I have gained a lot of respect for those who are able to do this full time and do it well.
I am grateful that I had the opportunity to continue to serve from home. I am glad ministry has been able to continue through these crazy days we find ourselves in, even if slowly at times. My prayer has been for those who do not have that luxury. I am deeply grateful for those unsung heroes who have served my family, our community, and other communities around the world.
I wish I knew what the future held for the next week, the next month, or the next year. I do not know what life will look like in a post Covid-19 world. Yet During this time I have been reading, dwelling on Jesus' prayer in John 17. It has reminded me that this current situation has changed absolutely nothing about our God and my control of life in general. In sickness or health, in want or plenty, in peace or turmoil, He is still sovereign.
The simple fact the God is unchanged helps remind me of so many things. He is my rock, my foundation. My hope is in Him. Through the storms and changes of this world, I can count on His faithfulness. May God remind you of His truths today and throughout this stormy season of life.
