On the Road (again)

If you follow this blog, you will know that Katie chronicled our epic adventures this summer to visit several TECH projects and to share the ministry of TECH with new and existing partners. That was a great trip and we pray that those we met with (and you who read about it) were encouraged. After that excursion I was reluctant to hit the road again for a while.

I am a homebody; I like to stay close to familiar turf. Like many of us, I like the routines and places of where I call home. However, I do enjoy the travel opportunities that TECH offers. While much of the service we provide can be done remotely, there are times that visiting the site is required to gather the information we need, or sometimes ministries simply request that we visit. Since the start of 2020 these trips have been few and far between.

At the end of September, I had the opportunity to visit a church TECH is serving with

about 4 hours from home in Arkansas. The purpose of the trip was to document the existing church building and then to meet with the staff and planning committee to discuss their needs. The total trip was about 36 hours. It was a lot to schedule into such a short time. It was also encouraging to me to hear and see how God is working in this specific part of the country that others call home.

It was a productive meeting and I learned much about the vision and ministry of the church. However, the meeting also revealed that there is additional work that the church needs to do before the master plan can move forward. The project is on hold for the immediate future while the church gathers that information. I look forward to prayerfully considering how to shape the site and facilities to best serve the vision God has given them for reaching their community.
