Hannah loves to make things. Doesn’t really matter what it is: crafts, cooking, coloring. She loves to make things for us, her friends, her teachers, or just because. If the girl is making, the girl is happy.
Often she will ask to make the complicated, adult supervision things right before bed or as we’re getting supper ready. I feel like we say no to her a lot due to poor timing.
So on Saturday, with Katie gone for the day, she asked at 10:00 AM if we could bake something from her Disney Princess cook book: Rapunzel's cheesy biscuit braids. How hard could it be, right? Turns out, not that hard, but sooooo many dishes! Ranen helped while Hannah and I measured, mixed by whisk, switched to the hand mixer, finally pulled out the big mixer (Katie's KitchenAId with kneading hook), rolled, re-rolled, cut, braided, and baked.
The end result was tasty, and Hannah was happy. Her teacher and family will enjoy the fruits of her efforts. However my inexperience with baking (I'm a decent cook - but baking is not in my wheelhouse) led to a mountain of dishes. That was a small price to pay to spend some quality time with my little maker girl.
