I recently had the opportunity to spend an evening in Paris… Texas. This little town just south of the Oklahoma boarder is situated on a common route out of Texas. In the many years of living here I have passed by Paris many times on my way to other places. On a few occasions I have even stopped on the outskirts for a meal. One thing I had never done was actually visit Paris proper. Which is unusual considering one of the first local facts I learned after moving here (that I remember) is that the town has their own version of the Eiffle Tower. With a cowboy hat on top. Having now been there I can say it is exactly what one would expect it to be.
Sightseeing of monument recreations was not the purpose of this particular trip. I had been invited by another TECH staff member to be present at the Red River Valley Baptist Association annual meeting. Over the last few years this staff member has established relationships with many of the local church associations and often represents TECH at their yearly meetings. This has given him the opportunity to share the ministry of TECH with the pastors and lay-leaders in attendance. This particular meeting we had been told that many of the pastors were expressing interest in various construction projects. The association coordinator created an opportunity for us to share in the general meeting on how TECH could assist them with their planning and design needs.
We are grateful for the opportunity to share about what God is doing through TECH. Like many things in life we do not know what will come of this meeting, but we pray that those that were in attendance would be encouraged by the story of TECH and that they would know they have an advocate when it comes time to build.
